One thing that stood out for me this season of American Idol - Jenny from the block knows her shit! Having starred in some of the most awful movies ever, several nominations for the Razzies and that oh-so-annoying squeaky voice had established her as someone who is strictly tolerable. Inviting her to our homes two nights a week, did not sound like a great idea... But here we are, and whowudavthunkit - the girl is smart, she speaks her mind, genuinely seems to care for the contestants, gives great advice and isn't perpetually stoned like Paula used to be!
Steven Tyler on the other hand I realize has no perception of what separates a good singer from a bad, how to critique, what to say, and also can someone get him a dictionary ??? or he could use what I use - visuwords.com. (shameless plug for a really cool website)
There is a lot of potential this season, and every one seems to have a distinct sound. My favorite this season is Hayley Reinhart. She has a cool bluesy raspy voice, and she reminds of Amy Winehouse without all the drugs and booze. Unfortunately, I doubt she is going to stick around too long. I get it, America doesn't... My prediction for this season - Pia. ( a Lea Michele wannabe)
